Who to Believe?
Yesterday a so-called religious man claimed that he knew when Iman Mehdi is going to appear. The same man was beaten a few days ago. Then the same man gave a statement about Corona not being dangerous. Then the man after having software updated said Corona was dangerous. One pathetic poor performance after another religious people of these days remind me of Chaucer’s Canterburry’s tales. The way they talk, dress, act simply makes me change the channels.
Hardly any religious scholar speaks sensibly other than Ghamid Sa’ahab. Having been an ardent admirer of his work since 2013 he has managed to make a mark in the world as an informed scholar. Not only does he provide substantial logical reasonings but he also gives sound and informed decisions. While most religious scholars, Mullah’s, sectarian scholars have made Islam difficult, I respect Ghamidi Sa’ahab for making it easy and understandable. He talks about the reconstruction of Religious thought (Allama Iqbal’s concept) in a very beautiful manner. He doesn't believe in sects. You see, all the scholars who raise their voices or use artificial and dramatic way of communicating seem like a farce to me.
Belonging to a family with all sorts of political parties including religious ones, I never endorsed anyone. I have only seen JUI use force instead of talking in a polite manner. Several members don’t even have control over their own families. Tahir ul Qadiri always pretends to have God Forbid Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in his processions and he pretends to talk with him. So called Maulana Fazal-ul-Rehman’s follower said Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) came in his dream as the Fazool Fazloo (God Forbid). Khadim Rizvi always makes a mockery out of himself. Then there are peers who blow out the evil and diseases away.
Had Fazlu’s character not been so extremely comical we would have seen Qadyaniat like problem in our country all over again. Then there is this love and hate relationship that people have with Maulana Tariq Jamil. He has a major following and he is known to always be on the side of the government in charge. He quotes Hadith with flavour but I have rarely seen him give references.
The Tableeghi Jammat along with the “Zaireen” are known to have been infected with Corona. Spreading disease carelessly is the matter of contention here. If there is a lockdown why didn’t they observe the rules? Nobody is calling ‘Tableeghi Jamaat bad but these unregistered Tableeghi Jamaat’ need to be responsible people. Putting people’s lives in danger didn’t serve anyone. Iran literally threw the problems our way.
The Mullah mindset that made Sir Syed Ahmed Khan an enemy of the religious people. It is this way of thinking that made Galilieo anger the Churches. JUI was against the creation of Pakistan. Nobody is willing to let go of “I’m right” phenomena. Our Maulvis are still not in favour of using science to determine the start of the Islamic month. This dislike of science ends when it comes to their personal gadgets. Everyone has made our beautiful Deen so difficult which is why there are so many sects.
I was born in a Sunni Syed family. I wasn’t taught the names of our ancestors the way Shiites do. My in-laws are Syed Shiites. Unfortunately they go above and beyond and even discredit the Caliphates. I have also seen Shiites give more weightage to Hazrat Ali and Hazrat Hussain than Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H). I have seen more Shiites go to peers and babas for Ta’weez and voodoo. I have seen Sunnis have no regard for the sacrifices made by our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) family. I have seen Sunnis claiming they are so right that they refuse to see their own mistakes. This is why I believe in one Islam and I do not endorse any sect. My husband is a sufi soul. And he has a kind heart but since he does not pray and relies more on the metaphysical aspects rather than trying to please Allah the way He wants.
This sectarian matter has become so worse that Muslim countries fight with each other. Saddam’s government was toppled. Everyone knows that it was a hoax now and there were many factors in play behind the destruction of Iraq. The Protestants and Catholics have waged so many wars with each other as well over their sectarian issue. Why must we repeat history every time we disagree with each other? Lets be on the same page because the light at the end of the tunnel may not shine on everyone if we continue being foolish. Learn to understand, respect and tolerate should be the motto. However, anyone who calls someone something without substantial backing is extremely pathetic.
